I’ve got so much to be thankful for at the moment. Enough blue skies between the grey to stop me from feeling seasonally affected, positive outcomes in the breast feeding/vasospasm department after a couple of phone calls from the local lactation consultant, good friends and a healthy and happy family. The thing that I am most grateful for is the voucher for two 2 hour cleaning sessions from Absolute Domestics that my cousin gave us after Charlotte was born.
I have always wanted a cleaner. Always. I am not one of those proud, perfectionistic people who think no-one will ever do as good a job as they do. I am not someone who feels embarrassed at asking for help. If you want to come to my house and clean the floors or dust the shelves or wash the dishes, my door is always open! It’s not that I don’t like cleaning, or that I am too lazy; it’s just that there are so many other things that I would rather do with my time than mop and dust and vacuum. Besides, we have dogs. I’d be mopping every day! So I sweep and I tidy, and then I read a book or hang out in the inter webs for a while. A few times a year we have a mega clean, pulling everything out, cleaning to a sparkle and decluttering as we go, but that usually end up being such a massive, messy to-do because if we’re going to do it we have to do it properly!
Chris, the cleaner is here as we speak. It’s his second visit. After the first two hours our bathrooms were as sparkly as the day they were born and our bedroom and the guest room had received a thorough vacuum. Today he is focusing on the two living areas, the kitchen and time permitting, our bedroom again. I love Chris. We got chatting after his first visit. He used to work for Qantas in some electronics capacity… I wish I could remember what he did. What I do remember is that he chose lifestyle over career, moved with his wife to his weekender in the mountains and realised that if he wanted to find work up here he’d just have to make his own. So he did. And here he is. Captain intelligent, with a keen eye for detail and an impeccable work ethic. Also, today he let us use his car to jump start ours as the battery died right before Tom went for a job interview. Did I mention that I love this guy?
So thanks Candice for the voucher, thanks Absolute Domestics for sending us Chris, and thanks Chris for being an all round champion.
As always, thanks to Kate for encouraging us to be grateful x
